On the 12th of July, it is Trondheim Jazzorkester & Signe Emmeluth’s turn to take over the turquoise stage.

In 2021, the Norwegian alto saxophonist Signe Emmeluth created a sensuous and cross-aesthetic concert especially for the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, in which sound and light interpret the experience of music as a physical phenomenon. The title of the work is Physicality in/emotion and refers to the physical dimensions of music and its movements. The work questions how the physical aspects affect the mood and presence of both listener and musician.

Signe Emmelut describes her work like this: “I have always been fascinated by the physical aspect of music. How frequency affects the body - as when multiple tones interfere with each other within the listener's head. Or the experience of a vacuum where lack of sound or light can feel completely overwhelming. How does the physical affect us emotionally?"

Physicality in/emotion premiered at Moldejazz in July 2021 and was played later that fall in Trondheim, Oslo, and Umeå. This summer, Emmeluth and the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra are coming to Denmark, and turkis has the pleasure of hosting the reenactment of the unique work.
