A long-distance collaboration between Sweden and Senegal

Happy children's songs collide with fuzzy guitar solos and pounding hip-hop beats as the group Wau Wau Collectif take on turquoise! The music is versatile, and is based on a cross-continental collaboration between Sweden and Senegal, and Wau Wau Collectif arose out of the desire to create something new and different. With rhythms from the balaphone and different sounds from the 22-string kora, the band brings a musical experience that is both rhythmically dense and weightless. An experience that will flow from one enchanting moment to the next. The music is characterized by a long combination of instruments with everything from saxophone, guitar and harp and more and is an interaction that you know from cozy jam sessions.

The collaboration has led to several albums, including the album "Marriage" which has over 20 different contributors, and is said to be a uniformly beautiful experience, with a political lyrical message about social problems in Senegal.

Vestafrican dance show with OJA

Before the concert with Wau Wau Collectif you can experience the dance group OJA from Aarhus - who are a bit of a legend here at turkis! The group are dancing traditional vestafrican dance, and will take you on a journey through contries like Ghana, Guinea and Senegal. Come and let yourself be carried away by the stubborn rhythms of drums and dance steps, then we guarantee swaying hips and a smile on your face!
