ALL FLOURISHING IS MUTUAL
Gift Ceremony with Lærke and Dina

Based on the belief that there are enough resources for everyone, we invite you to a day dedicated to generosity. We will exchange our resources, support each other, and in doing so, strengthen our sense of human connection and community.

A Gift Ceremony is a circle where participants can both express wishes and offer gifts. The event is open to all.

We pass the word around, and each participant has the opportunity to express one thing they wish for. It could be help repairing a car, building materials, or a dream of learning to play the guitar—only imagination sets the limit. Others in the circle can then step forward if they are able to fulfill the wish, and from there, the details are arranged. It is also possible to offer something to share—perhaps a treatment, flower seeds, an extra phone, or something else.

You do not need to prepare anything in advance. The entire Gift Ceremony lasts about 1.5 hours.

Before we begin, we take time for reflection on abundance, scarcity, natural economy, community, and dreams. The Gift Ceremonies take place at different times throughout the season when nature offers an abundance of berries, squash, roots, apples, and more. We will bring a table filled with gifts from nature, which participants are welcome to take home.

Participation is free, but if you wish to support our work, you are welcome to offer any kind of donation.

“The currency in a gift economy is relationship, which is expressed as gratitude, as interdependence and the ongoing cycles of reciprocity. A gift economy nurtures the community bonds that enhance mutual well-being; the economic unit is ‘we’ rather than ‘I,’ as all flourishing is mutual.” — The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer

We wish to create a space for a different kind of economy—one that is not solely based on money. The economy we know today is built on scarcity, competition, and accumulation. This economic system has not led us in a favorable direction and has, so far, been the cause of wars and climate change. Robin Wall Kimmerer has written a new book on the Gift Economy in the Natural World, and we hope to plant the seeds she shares in her book.

Everyone leaves richer—without spending a single coin.
