A tribute to the New York jazz scene

In December The Danish Youth Jazz Orchestra are going to swing by turkis! The Big Band are on tour with a concert under the name: “The Music of Maria Schneider & Eliane Elias”. During the concert the orchestra are not only making a tribute to one, but two of the biggest artists from the jazz scene in New York.

Maria Schneider is a living legend on the Big Band scene with several Grammy winning releases behind her. With her own unique, magical and personal sound, she has already written herself into the Bib Band history books. Eliane Elias is known for her very special way of combining jazz and bossa nova based on her Brazilian roots, but for this concert the orchestra focuses on her collaboration with Steps Ahead, as well as Bob Brookmeyer and the DR Big Band in the 90s.

The Orchestra is directed by the drummer, composer and conductor John Riddell (f. 1995), who is one of the most sought-after young drummers in Denmark.
