Nordic visions at turkis
Basco is award-winning Nordic folk music at its best. The quintet is made up of Scottish multi-instrumentalist Hal Parfitt-Murray, the danish ”spillemænd” Andreas Tophøj and Anders Ringgaard, the virtuoso citternist Ale Carr and the irrepressible Danish/Norwegian singer Jullie Hjetland
Together, the troupe interprets and reworks legends and myths from the old Nordic countries with a musical primordial force and a narrative sound universe. It is music and lyrics that steam with fear and excitement, love and joy, sadness and hatred - emotions that are transmitted through a living presence and a captivating performance.
In this way, Basco's poetic tones and the luminous voice of Jullie Hjetland have given the old stories from North new life, counterpointing the tales with elements of smoky scottish reels, flying norwegian halling dances, polkas from danish summer nights, and the echoes of Swedish forest trolls.
Come by turkis and take a sip directly from clearest springs of folk music. An experience of sounds and words that awakens and enlightens.
