Desert rock at turkis!

We will be visited by two constellations in an exciting symphony. The big act of the evening is Al-Qasar, who, with a cultural mixture of North African trance, American psych rock and festive vibrations, will blow the roof of turkis. The group is supported by local heroes, namely Assegai, who with great excitement brings the instrumental rock into an exciting and exploratory universe. It will be a night you won't want to miss!

AL-QASAR

In a cross-continental collaboration, the desert rock band Al-Qasar combines old school psychedelic garage rock with traditional instruments from the Arab world. The group formulates socially conscious texts in classical Arabic, and articulates topics such as power, oppression and the refugee experience, but also freedom and passion. With the social and political messages, the music culminates in a fantastic cultural mixture of North African trance, American psych rock and festive vibes as electric guitars and fuzz pedals meet the oud and the drum set combines with the darbuka, sazen and mizmar.

ASSEGAI

Assegai is a slender spear, especially used in the Bantu-speaking parts of Africa. A formidable weapon, as deadly as it is innovative. The spear has given its name to a constellation of four people from Aarhus, who, rhythmically and tonally motivated by East and North African artists, try to combine southern inspirations with a cooler sound. Together, Assegai creates a quirky instrumental rock that smells as much of heather and oak forests as of savannah and desert landscape
