Gellerup Højskole's Community Center moves into turkis and holds a drum workshop with world-renowned Simona Abdallah, who plays the Arabic drum Dourbake! It's the sound of the Middle East straight into your fall!

Afterwards, there is communal dining: We serve the Egyptian national dish Koshari, which is an insane concoction of lentils, pasta and rice. It is far better than it sounds!

SIMONA ABDALLAH

The teacher is world-renowned Simona Abdallah, a Palestinian-Danish percussionist who grew up in Gellerup and currently lives in Lebanon. She has become a big name for being one of the first women to take up the traditional dourbake drum - an instrument traditionally reserved for men.
