The Guardian (UK) describes Kathrine Windfeld's compositions as a rare combination of power and elegance: a colorful mix of sophisticated harmonic passages, physical grooves and poetic ballads in explosive arrangements.

Kathrine Windfeld Big Band has toured in i.a. England, Germany and Sweden and counts 15 of the strongest younger jazz profiles in Scandinavia.

Windfeld's four big band releases have been praised to the skies in leading international media, and have led to a wide range of awards and grants. Among other things. Kathrine W. received the honorable Ben Webster Prize in 2022 and the Odense Live Main Prize in 2023. She also has a Danish Music Award and the Carl Prize in her bag.
