When Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker, and John Doyle take the stage, they unleash their musical creativity in a dazzling display of artistry and spontaneity. Often performing without a fixed setlist, they keep their performances fresh and full of energy – as John says, "It’s about flying by the seat of your pants, about playing from the heart, about not over-thinking things."
The concert is presented by Roots Aarhus with support from Aarhus Kommune and Statens Kunstfond.

MICHAEL MCGOLDRICK, JOHN MCCUSKER & JOHN DOYLE
This legendary trio of Celtic folk musicians first met as teenagers and have known each other for over 25 years. Their collaboration grew out of BBC’s annual Transatlantic Sessions, where all three are regulars, and they’ve now been touring as a trio for over a decade.
Michael McGoldrick (flute, Uilleann pipes, bodhrán, clarinet, congas) is a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner, co-founder of Lúnasa and Flook, current member of Capercaillie, and has performed with prominent artists like Mark Knopfler, Eddi Reader, and John Cale.
John McCusker (violin, flute, harmonium) is another BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winner who rose to prominence as the successor to Brian McNeill in The Battlefield Band. He has played with artists like Mark Knopfler and Bob Dylan and has recently produced albums for Eddi Reader, Heidi Talbot (his wife), and Kris Drever.
John Doyle is one of Ireland's finest folk guitarists, a skilled singer, and co-founder of the Irish-American group Solas. He has also served as music director for Joan Baez, is a regular part of Mary Chapin Carpenter's acoustic trio, and has toured solo in Denmark in the past.
