Gustaf Ljunggren & Skúli Sverrisson ☉ turkis
Gustaf Ljunggren and Skúli Sverrisson are two of the most distinctive instrumentalists of Northern Europe. Together, the Scandinavian jazz duo has created the album Floreana on the basis of Ljunggren's compositions. The album bears traces from Nordic music traditions and has a consistent sensuousness that gives the listener access to something forgotten or undiscovered through the repetitive patterns and image-forming structures of the music. You can expect a strong dedication to the presence in the music and performance, unfolding on May 16th at turkis.
Ljunggren is an award-winning Swedish multi-instrumentalist and singer. He is a trained saxophonist at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, but he plays a number of different instruments. He is known for having played with some of the biggest Danish and Scandinavian acts and has also made solo albums and performances in his own name.
Skúli Sverrisson is an award-winning Icelandic composer and bass guitarist. In addition to working with big international names such as Lou Reed, Sverrisson has also composed music for theater, film, installations, and dance companies. His solo works include Seremonie in 1997 which won the prize as Best Album of the year at the Icelandic Music Awards.
