Chris Eckman ☉ turkis

Join in when American sing-songwriter and former lead singer of ‘The Walkabouts’ Chris Eckman introduces turkis to his newest album ‘Where the Spirit Rests’ - a deep dive into the vagaries of the extraordinary past years.

After 4 albums and a long break, the pandemic made the Seattle-based songwriter, Chris Eckman, pick up his pen and guitar once again. This led to the album “Where the Spirit Rests” which is amongst his most personal and vivid yet. An album that reflects both an individual and a collective process of reaching for touchstones to help us through a tough time, whether it’s the solace of the familiar or the seeking of something new.

Eckman’s luminous songwriting navigates loss, disorientation, redemption, and the search for home. The whole sound is intimate and close with Eckman’s dusty voice and a hypnotic acoustic guitar drawing the listener into the hushed secrets gradually being revealed. Together, his songs form a collection of oblique short stories, “an internal dialogue between a person and the outside world” he says.

turkis feels lucky to invite you in for a night with who, The All Music Guide called “one of the most underrated U.S. songwriters, a man who can pack a short story into image-laden lyrics”. A warm, intimate experience and a good opportunity to reflect on the changes brought upon us over the last few years.

Support: Søren Manscher

In 2019, Søren Manscher debuted as a singer-songwriter and soloist with the album ‘Det Er Balancerne, Der Holder Sammen På Det Hele’ which received great support from Politiken and DR P4 amongst others. Meanwhile, he also toured around the country as a supporting act for Søren Huss. Manscher has formerly been a part of the underground scene in bands as Harmonics and Oh Lois.

In March, Manscher released his second album ‘Den Stærke Sol’ which marks a solid musical standpoint with songs from real life told with a voice that is both straightforward and poetic. Several of the songs have been created in collaboration with others - including Teitur and GRETA - and carry traces from the time we have all lived through within the last few years. The album seeks calmness and wishes to make a pact with the stagnation, the self-examination, and the new reality.
