Experience how Haitian Vodou music meets the deep dub sensitivity of Europe when Chouk Bwa & The Ångströmers visit turkis with a blend of spiritual musical rituals and vintage electronic instruments.  

In September 2016, the Haitian Vodou band Chouk Bwa met the Brussels-based duo The Ångströmers. Together they started to combine the rhythms, science, and spirituality of deep dubby sound art and traditional Haitian Roots music.

When Chouk Bwa performs, it is with strong vocals, protest lyrics, spiritual vibrations, and acoustic instruments. But when they bring along the Belgian duo and mix it up with electronic beats and futuristic synths, the music turns even more intense. The vintage electronic instruments of The Ångströmers bring a whole new dimension to Chouk Bwa’s music, while it is still the band’s groove and fluent tempo that leads the energy of the ensemble.

Chouk Bwa & The Ångströmers had their first performances in 2018 and have since played all over the world. In May 2020 they released their first album via Bongo Joe, which received much praise. In 2022, the collaborative ensemble is touring in Europe and stopping by turkis in Aarhus, offering new Radical Vodou Roots for urban audiences.
