Experience Danish Youth Jazz Orchestra at a concert led by award-winning composer, conductor, arranger and saxophonist Lars Møller this evening at turkis!
Characteristic of Lars Møller's musical approach is the blending of the diverse sources of inspiration (the American jazz tradition, the European/Nordic tradition and world music, including Indian classical music) which together constitute a strongly personal modern tonal language, as well as enormously beautiful, rhythmically dramatic and immensely good-sounding big band compositions and events.
For the concert on 14 March, the Danish Youth Jazz Orchestra will perform a string of pearls of Lars Møller's compositions and arrangements.

LARS MØLLER
The Danish saxophonist, composer and orchestra leader, Lars Møller, is today considered one of the leading figures in Scandinavian jazz and enjoys, among other things, great recognition for his creative, nuanced use of the big band format. Lars Møller has released numerous CDs with both small and larger groups, and he has particularly distinguished himself at the head of the Lars Møller Group and the big band The Orchestra. Lars Møller served as artistic director of the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra in the years 2012-15 and in addition worked with DR Big Band, EBU Big Band, The Slovenian Radio Big Band, The Croatian Radio Big Band, Cologne Contemporary Jazz Orchestra and many other Scandinavian big bands, orchestras or chorus.
DANISH YOUTH JAZZ ORCHESTRA
The Danish Youth Jazz Orchestra is an elite youth big band consisting of the region's budding talents on the way to the Danish jazz scene, and functions both as a permanent big band and as a talent development base in the Central Jutland region. The Danish Youth Jazz Orchestra makes room for the wild, quirky and experimental - but rooted in the traditional.
On a daily basis, the orchestra is led and conducted by drummer John Riddell. John Alexander Riddell (b. 1995) is a drummer, composer, arranger and conductor, and is one of the most sought-after young drummers in Denmark. Despite his young age, Riddell has already left his mark on the Danish jazz scene with many different soloists and orchestras. He is a distinct big band drummer and in his work with various big bands and orchestras has played with a sea of Danish and international soloists: Randy Brecker, Andrea Motis, Seamus Blake, Adam Rapa, Teitur, Caro Emerald, Kira Skov, Maria Lucia, ANOHNI , Pede B, Wycliffe Gordon, Caroline Henderson, Sinne Eeg, Cæcilie Norby and many more.
