We invite you to take part in a communal movie-watching experience. This screening will be a sensory and metaphoric sauna ceremony guided by Kvindekreds Djursland group.

The evening will consist of simple somatic practices, screening of the “Smoke Sauna Sisterhood” movie and a sharing circle and ceremony rooted in ancestral practices. Our intention is for people to leave with a deeper sense of connection with themselves and one another.

This is a beautiful, unsentimental film about femininity and solidarity across and between ages and bodies. In that spirit, we hope to create a safe, inspiring and intergenerational space. You are warmly welcomed to bring your grandparent, grandchild, siblings, soul-friends.

The space will be held in partly English, partly Danish, all languages are welcome. To create an intimate space around the event, there are only 30 seats, so order your ticket well in advance if you want to attend.

Who are Kvindekreds Djursland?

Kvindekreds Djursland is a regional circle of women connected to the landscapes of Djursland. It is an intimate space where women show up again and again. Over time a space for deep vulnerability emerges.

SMOKE SAUNA SISTERHOOD

In a glowing sauna in the middle of a forest, a group of women share their most personal stories while the camera captures their bodies in beautiful close-ups. Stories about sex, lust and shame mix with laughter develop a bond between the women. A beautiful, unsentimental film about femininity, solidarity and a very special sauna culture that transcends age and body.

The film is Estonia's Oscar bid and has won numerous awards worldwide. Before Christmas, it won the European Film Award for best documentary and the director got the whole hall involved in his acceptance speech, which was carried out as a call-response - the touching recording of the 'singing hall' went viral on social media.

The movie is presented in collaboration between turkis and Øst For Paradis, the danish distributors of the movie.
