With HĪBER Bara Gisladottir gives us the sound of winter. HĪBER refers to hībernus, meaning wintery. Bara Gisladottir explores texture and darkness and expands our sense of the duration of winter through her music. The feelings – inside of us and around us – which are present during winter. Hibernation and the ability to get through it. The winter. HĪBER portrays the changing process
Bara Gisladottir (IS, 1989) is a composer and double bassist living in Copenhagen. Her pieces are generally based on the idea of sound as a living being. She has studied composition at Iceland Academy of the Arts, The Milan Conservatory of Music and The Royal Danish Academy of Music. Her music has been performed all over the world by ensembles and orchestras such as Athelas Sinfonietta, The Danish National Symphony Orchestra, and Ensemble Recherche. She has received the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Talent Award, Gladsaxe Music Award, Léonie Sonning Talent Award, and Reykjavík Grapevine Music Award.
