OPGANG2 and turkis open Aarhus Festival Week 2024 with young art, music, and poetry that bridges cultures and generations.
This year's festival theme is "Outside the Norm," and OPGANG2 has a proud tradition of giving voice to those who often go unseen or unheard and fall outside the mainstream. The aim of this event is to highlight the fragile nature of youth and to showcase works created by young people who are slightly outside the norm, creating art that astonishes, impresses, and breaks with "normalcy."
Additionally, you can experience poets Søren Marcussen and Kristine Baagland, accompanied by musicians Orhan Ozgür Tura and Mads Horsbøl, surrounded by the new young art.
The exhibition features works created by young people at OPGANG2 over the summer of 2024. There will be visual art, prints, ceramics, and installations, and the exhibition can be experienced at turkis throughout the entire festival week.
The event starts at 17:00 with the poetry salon "Life Tracks." Here, Kristine Baagland, who is connected with OPGANG2 as a young artist, together with former theater director Søren Marcussen, will read poems accompanied by two talented musicians who previously performed with Marcussen at OPGANG2's anniversary concert at the Musikhuset in 2022.
It will be poetry about life—when it is beautiful and when it hurts. Raw, fragile, and personal.
From 19:00 to 19:45, there will be an opening of the exhibition, where we will offer a drink, and you can meet the young artists featured in the exhibition and listen to music created by young people at OPGANG2. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about OPGANG2's new programs for vulnerable and at-risk youth who wish to work with art.
The event is free and open to everyone.
The summer exhibition can be experienced throughout the entire festival week.
After the opening, there will be a concert with Ipek Yolu + AddisAbabaBand + DJ Sabs. There is an entrance fee for the concert, and you are more than welcome to stay and enjoy the evening. Find your tickets here
