"Voices Out of the Box" is a project by DFUNK, consisting of the Storytelling Network and the creative opinion-former program, Udtaler.

The project focuses on creative expression and alternative forms of engagement, moving democratic dialogue to a place where more people can participate. At the same time, it broadens the understanding of democratic engagement as something that primarily occurs in a voting booth. Meeting places are created, and space is given to the voices that are mostly heard outside the voting booth—not just every four years, but every day.

As part of the creative opinion-former program, Udtaler, participants have created their own films in collaboration with skilled filmmakers in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. During the Aarhus Festival, you can watch films created by Ahin, Ahmad, Aya, Ayman, Dana, Eyman, Fidan, Jasmin, Jawaher, Jilan, Murad, Mursal, Salah, Somaja, and Zuhal at Turkis, near the Turkis garden 2024. In addition to the films, you can also read the Udtaler newspaper, created by a group of Udtaler participants from DFUNK, both inside and outside at Turkis.
