SINIMUSO WORKSHOP

Malian Finnish SINIMUSO band will teach music and dances from Malian and Finnish traditions. The workshop will be built around the music from SINIMUSO’s upcoming album “Nouskaa sisaret”, which will be published on the 2nd of October. In the album Finno-Ugric Kalevala poem songs and old kantele tunes meet with Saharan blues, groovy Bambara rhythms and soulful Peul melodies.

In the workshop we will concentrate on acoustic playing, singing and dancing, and you are welcome to bring your own instrument with you if you like. The workshop is open for everyone who is interested in our music and work.

SINIMUSO

SINIMUSO – the Women of the Future in Bambaran language – was born in 2022 as a part of the project 'World Wide Women – female musicians crossing borders and building futures'. The project focuses on female musicians and their agencies in four different continents. In SINIMUSO, the focus is on female instrumentalists and different music traditions in Mali and Finland.

SINIMUSO is leading the way to the future by bringing seven virtuosic female musicians and their border crossing cooperation to the spotlight. The outcome is combining the powers of women and music, and the topics are related to the lives of the women, and to the futures we want to create. SINIMUSO's music fuses Malian and Finnish traditions. The band's debut album, Nouskaa Sisaret, will be released in October 2024, along with a release tour in the Nordic Countries.

The group consists of seven female instrumentalists and singers from Mali and Finland:
