Join us for a mesmerizing night of music that bridges Greenlandic tradition and modernity, featuring two acts that weave together Inuit heritage, Indie music and folk-inspired melodies. We are so exited to present Nive & The Deer Children Duo + Inuanima at turkis!
This concert is the kick-off to the Unity in Diversity days organized by Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, where we embrace diversity and inclusion in our society through workshops, talks and music.

NIVE & THE DEER CHILDREN DUO
Nive & The Deer Children offers something as unique as Greenlandic indie Americana folk - a sound that takes you on an international musical journey with songs in both Greenlandic and English. The band has toured both Europe and North America with everything from a ukulele and glockenspiel to a musical saw in their backpack, and now they are going to Aarhus!
The lead singer, Nive Nielsen, is both a singer, songwriter, musician and actress, and her multifaceted creativity shines through her music.
Nive & The Deer Children released their debut album, “Nive Sings!”, in 2012. The album is produced by John Parish who, among other things, is known for his long-standing collaboration with PJ Harvey. The same year, Nive Nielsen received “Stjernedrysprisen” for mixing her ethnic background with a modern, international sound, and for representing a new Greenlandic identity.
The band’s latest album, “Feet First, is recorded in both Greenland, Belgium, England and the US, which has greatly impacted the music, as Nive describes how the songs from the album have grown with her throughout the journey. Below is the video for the first single of the album, “Are You Ready”, which is recorded in minus 37 degrees in Uummannaq.
INUANIMA
Inuanima is a music and performance duo consisting of Aviaja Lumholt (Inuit/Danish) and Igor Rado (Balkan/Danish). Their music incorporates Inuit drums, throat singing, and elements of masked dance, creating a contemporary sound deeply inspired by the shamanic universe. Inuanima describes their music as a tribute to multiculturalism and a positive coexistence between nature and humanity. "Inuanima" is the duo’s term for "The Soul of Everything."
