RIGÓ
RIGÓ is a choir based in Aarhus, Denmark, with a repertoire rooted in polyphonic folk music from near and far.
RIGÓ means “blackbird” in Hungarian. Just as the blackbird hops from branch to branch, folk songs travel from mouth to mouth. In RIGÓ, all songs are learned by ear – without the use of sheet music. Our aim is to build community through vocal folk music. The repertoire features original arrangements of both traditional and newly written folk songs, spanning from east to west and south to north.
For this special performance, RIGÓ has invited guest artists Lucie Hendry on harp and a percussion ensemble led by Tiago Candal.
The choir is led by Naja Holst Nymand and Dorottya Máté.
LUCIE HENDRY
Lucie Hendry is a Celtic harpist from Scotland whose music bridges the rich traditions of Scottish folk with the innovative sounds of the Nordic music scene. Drawing inspiration from her folk roots, the natural world, and a wide range of musical genres, she weaves uplifting melodies, unexpected rhythms, and intricate musical textures into a sound that is both refreshing and deeply atmospheric.
Lucie leads a dynamic trio with guitarist Jacob Djursaa and drummer Christoffer Skovhus.
In 2023, she released her debut solo album, Land of Eden – a nature-inspired collection that received wide acclaim and national radio play in both the UK and Denmark. The album led to performances at major festivals across both countries, including Celtic Connections, Stonehaven Folk Festival, Godtfolk, Copenhagen Jazz Festival, and Aarhus Jazz Festival.
Later this year, she’ll release her second album, Ashes to Art, the result of two years of melodic exploration reflecting her musical journey and life in Denmark. Many of the songs from this upcoming album will be featured in her concerts throughout 2025.
