DJ Workshop with DJ Sabs – A Relaxed Insight into the Art of DJing

Join a workshop with DJ Sabs, where you'll gain a professional insight into the world of DJing without delving into technical details. Focusing on professional preparation and strategic music selection, DJ Sabs will bring her vinyl records and share her experience as a DJ and music culture facilitator. She will explore how to build a DJ set, adapt to different types of events, and create the right atmosphere for the audience—whether at a festival or a concert, for young or old.

The workshop will also cover practical considerations such as music research, curating a record collection, and choosing the right material to match the event’s character. DJ Sabs will provide insight into what it takes to deliver a successful performance and how to professionally handle both offered and sought-after DJ gigs.

In addition, turkis’ own Thomas Beyer will dive into more technical details and introduce the functions of the DJ booth.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

It’s possible to actively participate and try your hand at mixing, or simply listen with curious ears.

The event is intended for all ages and for anyone who is curious.

There will be simple, sweet refreshments and a cozy atmosphere.

Otherwise, the bar will be open, and depending on the weather, the event will take place either in the Oasis or indoors at turkis.

The event is organized in collaboration with the A3 Association - Engaged Age Activists, Studenterhus Aarhus, Kompetencehuset Aarhus, and Husrum, as part of a joint effort to promote understanding, challenge prejudices, and foster community across ages. You might consider bringing your grandfather! Or the neighbor's kids? And of course, you are also welcome to come alone or with good friends and peers.

DJ SABS

DJ Sabs – a highly acclaimed expert with a background in anthropology and a passion for musical cultures and traditions from around the world. Originally from Bosnia-Herzegovina, DJ Sabs is particularly engaged with the stories behind the music and how it conveys sociocultural perspectives. Her exceptional repertoire spans genres like Roots Hybrid, including Roots, Ethno Surf Afrobeat, Contemporary Folk, Oriental Dub, Reggae, Arabic Disco & Desert Blues, as well as pop and rock from the former Yugoslavia. DJ Sabs’ unique ability to combine these diverse musical cultures and traditions creates an enchanting and irresistible atmosphere on the dance floor, leaving the audience amazed.
