Experience toechter creating their very own musical language with electronic beats and soundscapes!
toechter is a Berlin-based band consisting of Lisa Marie Vogel, Katrine Grarup Elbo and Marie-Claire Schlameus. The group creates electronic beats and soundscapes as they manipulate and stroke their instruments against the hair.
Violin, viola and cello are at the center when toechter creates their own musical language by mixing the manipulated sound with an acoustic sound ideal. Based on their classical schooling, the three musicians compose together. They improvise, work with electronics and effects pedals and strive to constantly expand the sonic palette.
The group's debut album Zephyr was released on the German record label Edition DUR in March 2022, and the record has just won the renowned Deutscher Schallplattenpreis in the categories Experimental & Electronic, Opus Klassik & Preis der Popkultur. On Zephyr, the listener is invited into a world of glissandos and pizzicatos, of beats created by punches, claps and strokes with hands on the instruments.
