ABDULLAH MINIAWY TRIO
The Egyptian composer and singer Abdullah Miniawy and the two French trombonists Robinson Khoury and Jules Boittin create a unique musical expression that combines the improvisation of jazz with the intensity and spiritual depth of the Egyptian soundscape.
The project premiered at the Musée Dauphinois during the Detours De Babel Festival in Grenoble, where it was met with standing ovations and tears—a hallmark of Miniawy's work, which many find solace in his voice. The intention is to create a global discourse on current political matters and the spirit of human unity by touching people's hearts.
The music draws on Miniawy’s previous works, fusing Baroque, opera, and Middle Eastern traditions into a powerful reflection on political themes and human connection. Miniawy’s album Le Cri Du Caire won the prestigious Victoires du Jazz in 2023—the French equivalent of the Grammy Awards.
The trio has gained widespread international recognition and is currently touring on prominent stages and at festivals around the world.
